4 suspected kidnappers, killers of Catholic priest arrested
The Police High Command has paraded four suspected kidnappers and killers of Reverend Father John Alex Adeyi of Catholic Diocese of Oturkpo and Priest of St. Bernard’s Parish Okpoga, Benue State.

The hoodlums are Suleiman Gina, 30, (leader), Saidu Abdullahi, 28, Aliyu Garba, 26, and Haruna Idi, 27. Also paraded were 13 suspected pipeline vandals and three cyber hackers.

It would be recalled that Rev. Adeyi was kidnapped on April 24 and subsequently killed after the gang allegedly collected N1.7m ransom. Adeyi’s tragic killing had generated great concern, controversy and frenzied searchthat even attracted the attention of most Catholic faithful in the Vatican City, but to no avail.

The kidnappers, who claimed to have collected only N1.5m of the sum, were reportedly trailed and arrested by the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, attached to IGP Monitoring Unit at separate areas in Enugu, Bauchi and Benue states. When quizzed, the deputy leader of the gang, Abdullahi, confessed he shot the priest dead.

‘‘I shot him (the priest) dead because we were afraid of a group of vigilante members who were pursuing us in the bush,’’ he said.

He added that they were tempted to collect and share the ransom after killing their victim. Besides, it was reported that during investigation, the hoodlums led the police to a forest in Orokam area of the state where three locally fabricated guns, one Nokia Lumia mobile phone and one black Gicent mobile phone, model M9 belonging to the victim and used for negotiation by his abductors, were recovered. At Kirikiri area of Lagos State, the police also foiled and arrested suspected pipeline vandals, namely Frank Adakpa, Mallam Asafa, Fatai Bashir, Yahaya Mohammed, Umar Abdullahi and Wasiu Adeboye and recovered 17 tanker trucks. The trucks was loaded with vandalised petrol and suspected adulterated diesel.

Others are Biliyaminu Abdullahi, 43, Kazeem Lawal, 44, Abdullahi Musa, 43, Abubakar Mohammed, 31, Abubakar Abdullahi, 30, Mumkaila Abdullahi, 22, Mohammed Ibrahim, 33, Umaru Adamu, 35, Samuel Majabi, 45, Iliasu Musa, 27, Femi Michael, 29, Anas Haruna, 26 and Nura Isah, 26.

Items recovered were two tanker trucks with registration numbers DKA 67 ZU and EKY 833 XR loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol, un-numbered operational vehicles, one Toyota Rav 4 Jeep with registration number LND 856 CE, Peugeot Wagon 807 with registrationnumber APP 788 CK, Chevrolet Jeep and Honda Accord.

However, Henry Ushie, Stanley Onwuka and Omoba Moshood, among an eight-member suspected cyber hacking gang, are presently coolingtheir heels in police custody.

It was reported that the gang formed a club called, ‘The Money Team Boyz’ in 2012 at Ihiala town of
Anambra State and allegedly used the same name in their facebook account.

They were said to have hacked the facebook account of some influential individuals including DCP Don Awunnah, the police Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Abuja.
