An Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos state on Thursday arraigned three self-acclaimed pastors for allegedly obtaining N26, 000 under the guise of performing miracles.

The accused, Ekpo Michael, 55, Charles Michael, 54 and Napoleon Ohaegbu, 52, falsely presented themselves to one Chioma Okorie under the guise of being pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, and obtained the said amount.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Kingsley Jackson, told the court that the accused conspired and committed the offences on July 19, at 2p.m., at Ikate in Lekki Phase 1, at Eti-Osa, Lagos.

Jackson said, “The accused of unknown address falsely told Okorie that there was a cowry in her womb.

“The accused brought out an egg and performed a magic, broke the egg, and a cowry appeared.

“The accused, however, collected N26, 000 from her.

“The offences contravened Sections 409, 312 (1) and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011,” the prosecutor said, adding that the accused are facing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and stealing.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty.

The magistrate, Mr. P. A. Adekomaya granted the accused persons bail each in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety each in like sum.

Adekomaya adjourned the matter till August 8 for mention.
