Man 'jumped to his death from luxury cruise ship after anti-gay taunts from crew'

A man jumped to his death from a luxury Caribbean cruise ship after being subjected to anti-gay slurs, it has been claimed.

Bernardo Elbaz was apparently filmed plunging from the Royal Caribbean liner into the pitch black waters of the Bahamas.

Distressing footage shows the Brazilian clinging to a lifeboat as rescue crews attempt to bring him to safety and other passengers scream for help.

But moments later he falls beneath the surface of the churning waters. Continue...

A lawyer for Elbaz's family now claims the 31-year-old was drunk and leapt to his death in protest at anti-gay taunts from crew members on board the ship, Oasis of the Seas.

New video footage, believed to have been filmed on Elbaz's mobile phone, shows him apparently arguing with two security guards in his cabin.

He is heard saying: "I have a husband, I am not a paedophile."

The incident happened at around 1am on November 6.

Before Elbaz fell into the water, passenger Jennifer St Laurent captured the dramatic ordeal on her mobile phone.

The video shows the man dangling as other people on board attempt to pull him back on deck.

Moments later screams of horror are heard as he loses his grip.
