‘We Haven’t Banned ‘Pomo’’– Minister of Agriculture

The Minister of Agriculture has said that the consumption of 'pomo' (pictured) hasn't been banned

There were reports that the locally consumed pomo have been banned, while some people were okay with the latest development, others who enjoy their meals with pomo protested it.

Contrary to earlier reports, The minister of Agriculture Dr. Akinwumi Adesina has said that the locally consumed delicacy has not been banned by Government but that the government said it will be much more useful if sold as leather instead of food.

In his words;
“We need to develop efficient leather industry in Nigeria. But government has not banned the consumption of pomo.”

“I have seen a lot of stories saying that the government has banned pomo. That is not the job of the government.”

“What we are trying to do is to make people to understand that we can make a lot of money through the sales of pomo.”

“We have been importing leather into the country. This is not good for our local leather manufacturing companies.”
