Finally: Tambuwal Dumps PDP For APC

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal Speaker of the House of Representatives, has formally declared his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He announced his defection yesterday, October 28, in a short message he personally read at the end of plenary.

According to him, he was leaving the PDP due to the political developments in his home state of Sokoto.

But contrary to widely-held belief, Tambuwal will not resign his position as speaker of the House neither will he lose his membership, Leadership reports.

Reports had surfaced last week that the lawmaker had defected to the APC after he attended a stakeholders’ meeting of the APC in Sokoto, where Governor Wamakko disclosed that the speaker was just bidding his time in the PDP.

Tambuwal had however said he was still consulting.

It was gathered that the consultations are over and Tambuwal has made all the necessary arrangements to join the APC and contest for governorship position in Skokoto come 2015.
