Police recover body of lecturer killed in kidnappers’ custody

LASTMA commander lynched for crushing conductor to death in Lagos


Tragedy struck in the Liverpool, Apapa area of Lagos on Thursday after an irate mob lynched a commander of the Lagos State Transport Management Agency, Mr. Bakare Olatunji.

Olatunji, who was until his death a zonal head of the agency in the Apapa area, had led a team of officials to the area in a patrol van to arrest erring motorists at about 11am.

The Lagos State Government yesterday said it would shut down Ahmadu Bello Way, Tiamiyu Savage, Akin Adesola and Bishop Oluwole as it holds the maiden edition of its street party next Saturday and Sunday.

FG Proposes Jail Term For Dollar Hoarders

The Federal Government has proposed an amendment to the Foreign-Exchange Act to enable the imprisonment of anyone who holds foreign currencies, especially the dollar, for more than 30 days.

This is the latest measure the government and the Central Bank of Nigeria are considering to stem the volatility in the exchange rate and bolster the ailing naira, according to a Bloomberg report.

EFCC files 30 charges against Justice Ajumogobia, Godwin Obla

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has slammed 30 charges against a Federal High Court judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia; and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Obla.

The EFCC claimed that about $793,800 passed through the judge’s domiciliary accounts between 2012 and 2015. The judge allegedly used the money to buy a house in London.

The two accounts have since been frozen by the EFCC.

The commission is expected to arraign the two suspects before a Lagos State High Court this week.
